Before techno / house, there were other people manipulating sounds, believe it or not. Can, Sun Ra, Lee Perry, The Radiophonic Workshop, Adrian Sherwood, Brian Eno, Velvet Underground, Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk, Cabaret Voltaire, Depeche Mode, Frank Zappa, D.A.F., Faust, Yello, Manuel Göttsching....there is a whole industry focussing on re-issues of old, deleted, obscure material from all over the world. We are happy that pioneer labels like Warp repress Autechre or Afx, sometimes it needs some cheeky people who bootleg the KLF, and let’s not forget there is a whole new generation of producers that make music for living rooms rather than dancefloors.
